BIOGRAPHY
With colour, texture, and dynamic layering, my art aims to capture the energy and spirit of nature, landscapes, and industrial heritage.
Each artwork comes into being through measured and thoughtful progress, punctuated by bursts of energy. My process is rooted in intuition and quiet reflection. Only when a work totally reveals itself do I know it is finished. This process can take weeks, more commonly months, and even years.
My recent body of work is inspired by journeys to Cornwall and Wales. I return to these special places from my home in Wells, Somerset, where I am a full-time studio artist. My pieces are enhanced by the amazing suppliers I work with. I use the superb quality and richly pigmented Michael Harding oil paints, and bespoke framers Penny Batch Gallery, who are members of the Fine Art Trade Guild.
I graduated with a first-class arts and design degree from the University of Plymouth (1997-2000). My work has been highly commended by the Royal Society of Arts, appeared in the St Fagans National Museum of History’s ‘House For the Future’, and has been included in exhibitions in the UK and Europe.
“Abstract art is art that does not attempt to represent an accurate depiction of a visual reality but instead uses shapes, colours, forms and gestural marks to achieve its effect”
